Genesis 3:7-11 shows that Adam and Eve were ashamed and tried to cover their sins. This did not work. God did not accept their efforts. Sin made them afraid and they tried to hide from God. That did not work. God knew right where they were. They could not hide from God. I cannot hide from God. You cannot hide from God. No one can hide from God.
“7And the eyes of them both were opened, and they knew that they were naked; and they sewed fig leaves together, and made themselves aprons. 8And they heard the voice of the LORD God walking in the garden in the cool of the day: and Adam and his wife hid themselves from the presence of the LORD God amongst the trees of the garden. 9And the LORD God called unto Adam, and said unto him, Where art thou? 10And he said, I heard thy voice in the garden, and I was afraid, because I was naked; and I hid myself. 11And he said, Who told thee that thou wast naked? Hast thou eaten of the tree, whereof I commanded thee that thou shouldest not eat?” (Genesis 3:7-11)
God knew that Adam and Eve had disobeyed Him. They tried to hide, but God still found them. When we have sinned and disobeyed God, we cannot hide from Him. However, the situation is not hopeless. God has given a remedy. He said, “He that covereth his sins shall not prosper: but whoso confesseth and forsaketh them shall have mercy.” (Proverbs 28:13) Adam and Eve tried to cover the evidence of their sin, but God saw right through it. He knew what they had done. Covering our sins does not work. However, God has promised, “If we confess our sins, he is faithful and just to forgive us our sins, and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness.” (I John 1:9) And, it is the “the blood of Jesus Christ his Son” that “cleanseth us from all sin.” (See I John 1:7)
If you have sin in your life, do not try to hide it. You cannot hide from God anyway. Confess your sin to God and forsake it and find mercy through the cleansing of the precious blood of Jesus Christ, the Son of God.
