June 2010 Here are just a few more of the things that are going on –
“D.C. police officers have threatened to arrest people praying and counseling on the public sidewalk in front of Planned Parenthood.” People have been allowed to pray and counsel here for years. They are not on the Planned Parenthood property, nor are they harassing people going in and out of the place. Yet, suddenly, they are not being permitted to pray or counsel on these public sidewalks. “Exeter High School Caves to Pressure from Atheist Groups to Nix Prayer at Graduation
A few days ago we shared with you about the prayer controversy at Exeter High School and today sadly, we have another report on the new developments at the high school. Due to pressure from Americans United for Separation of Church and State, the Freedom from Religion Foundation and the Anti-Defamation League the school board has caved to their pressure and are not even allowing the students to vote on whether or not they want a prayer. Instead the school is going to allow a ‘moment of silence’.” For more information, go here - http://www.persecutionblog.com/2010/06/another-high-school-not-barred-from-not-having-prayer-at-graduation.html
Proposal to Build Mosque at Ground Zero
There has been a proposal to build a mosque at ground zero. Shall we reject the God who saved us during 9/11 and exalt the false god, whose radical followers dersired (and still desire) to destroy our nation? Washington Sees Israel as a Strategic Liability to U.S. Interests
According to an article in the Charlotte Observer on Sunday, June 6, 2010, “Foreign experts say that Israel as a strategic liability to U.S. interests is an idea gaining traction in Washington.”
“’The depth of America’s moral commitment does not justify or excuse actions by an Israeli government that unnecessarily makes Israel a strategic liability when it should remain an asset,’ Cordesman wrote, in commentary for the centrist Center for Strategic and International Studies, where he is the Arleigh A. Burke Chair in strategy.” (section A, 13A & 17A)
Is this why we are kind to Israel? Is this why we help them with money and arms? Because they are an asset to us?
In the book of Numbers is the story of Balak trying to convince Balaam to curse Israel. However, God would not let Balaam curse Israel but caused him to bless Israel instead. In Numbers 24:9, Balaam says, “He couched, he lay down as a lion, and as a great lion: who shall stir him up? Blessed is he that blesseth thee, and cursed is he that curseth thee.” In Psalm 122:6, David says, “Pray for the peace of Jerusalem: they shall prosper that love thee.”
There is no promise of prosperity to those that do not bless Israel. In fact, the books of the prophets contain numerous warnings to Israel’s enemies of the great judgments they will face for harming Israel. We do not bless Israel because they are an asset to us. We bless Israel because they are God’s chosen people. Some are concerned that Israel’s actions in protecting itself may be harmful to our national security as Americans. If we had not been giving money and arms to Israel’s enemies in exchange for benefits from them, we would not have to worry about this. Should we be aiding Israel’s enemies? If we do, are we party to their cursing Israel?
Our leaders are in a particularly difficult situation right now. They have inherited problems from the mistakes of other leaders before them. Please pray that God will give them wisdom. Pray that they will get saved and look to the one true God for guidance. Pray that they will not look to other gods or to man’s remedies, or to their own understanding for help. Pray for America to return to God.
