There is coming a day when the enemies of Israel will be destroyed, God will restore Zion and establish it as a city. It will not be a day of rejoicing for Israel’s enemies, but it will be a day of rejoicing for God’s chosen people. Let us take a look.
The End of Israel’s Enemies
“29) Rejoice not thou, whole Palestina, because the rod of him that smote thee is broken: for out of the serpent's root shall come forth a cockatrice, and his fruit shall be a fiery flying serpent. 30) And the firstborn of the poor shall feed, and the needy shall lie down in safety: and I will kill thy root with famine, and he shall slay thy remnant. 31) Howl, O gate; cry, O city; thou, whole Palestina, art dissolved: for there shall come from the north a smoke, and none shall be alone in his appointed times.” (Isaiah 14:29-31) Israel’s enemies will continue to claim Israel’s land as their own; but, one day, God is going to say, “OK, this is long enough. The land is going back to Israel, to whom I gave it.” The enemies of Israel will be cut off and dissolved. The firstborn of the poor and the needy (those that had been oppressed in the land) will no more be afraid or be hungry. God will make the lie down in safety and feed them.
Restoration and Establishment of Zion
When the people of the nation enquire, the answer will be that the city has been founded by God. It will be a place of safety and refuge for the poor. “What shall one then answer the messengers of the nation? That the LORD hath founded Zion, and the poor of his people shall trust in it.” (verse 32) A glad day it will be for God’s chosen people. There will be no more oppression for them.
