(Excerpts from Isaiah 45)
"I am the LORD, and there is none else, there is no God beside me... they may know from the rising of the sun, and from the west, that there is none beside me. I am the LORD, and there is none else... Woe unto him that striveth with his Maker! Let the potsherd strive with the potsherds of the earth. Shall the clay say to him that fashioneth it, What makest thou? or thy work, He hath no hands?... Thus saith the LORD, the Holy One of Israel, and his Maker... I have made the earth, and created man upon it: I, even my hands, have stretched out the heavens, and all their host have I commanded... Surely God is in thee; and there is none else, there is no God... They shall be ashamed, and also confounded, all of them: they shall go to confusion together that are makers of idols...For thus saith the LORD that created the heavens; God himself that formed the earth and made it; he hath established it, he created it not in vain, he formed it to be inhabited: I am the LORD; and there is none else... I the LORD speak righteousness, I declare things that are right... there is no God else beside me; a just God and a Saviour; there is none beside me. Look unto me, and be ye saved, all the ends of the earth: for I am God, and there is none else. I have sworn by myself, the word is gone out of my mouth in righteousness, and shall not return, That unto me every knee shall bow, every tongue shall swear. Surely, shall one say, in the LORD have I righteousness and strength: even to him shall men come; and all that are incensed against him shall be ashamed."

Trust in the Lord, not People or Presidents or Presidential Candidates for Deliverance from Evil Men7/15/2016 "11Behold, all they that were incensed against thee shall be ashamed and confounded: they shall be as nothing; and they that strive with thee shall perish. 12Thou shalt seek them, and shalt not find them, even them that contended with thee: they that war against thee shall be as nothing, and as a thing of nought. 13For I the LORD thy God will hold thy right hand, saying unto thee, Fear not; I will help thee." (Isaiah 41:11-13) "10Behold, the Lord GOD will come with strong hand, and his arm shall rule for him: behold, his reward is with him, and his work before him. 11He shall feed his flock like a shepherd: he shall gather the lambs with his arm, and carry them in his bosom, and shall gently lead those that are with young." (Isaiah 40:10,11) Turn Again to the Lord This is a long article, but I believe it contains some very important things. Please take some time to read and seriously consider these things. Thank you!
Trump has gained popularity and risen quickly in the most amazing way. Even people who don’t like him plan to vote for him because “he is our only hope.” One wonders at the power of attraction and control he seems to be able to hold over people’s minds. The American people are hurting and looking for hope. They see their country heading downhill rapidly and are grasping at anything they think might help. Trump seems to offer everything they are looking for: A strong man Not willing to back down Holds out hope and promises a solution to the things that frighten and trouble them But there are some troubling things about Trump, things that should make Americans stop and think twice. Here is a look at some of those troubling things. Suppression of the press Doesn’t it frighten anyone that Trump keeps suppressing the press and banning them from covering his campaign events? Some counter by saying, “Well, they report incorrectly?” Consider for a moment, “Has the press ever reported correctly or unbiased about candidates in any campaign?” If he puts this much pressure on the press now, what will happen to the freedom of the press, or freedom of speech for that matter, if he becomes President? Following is a list of News outlets banned from Trump’s campaign events: Washington Post Daily Beast Univision Buzz feed Politico Huffington Post Perhaps there are even more by now. Trump has been outspoken about banning Muslim immigration, and has talked about expanding the proposed ban to include those from countries with a history of terrorism (although he recently softened on that point). He also suggests that the government “profile” Muslims living in the US and that this would be a “terrorism fighting tool.” Do we think that he will stop with Muslims? He claims that the President has the power to stop anyone from coming into the country that may not be good for the country. I’m not sure where the President gets this power. Has there been a law passed that grants the President that power? I looked through the Constitution and did not see any such power delineated to the President. Doesn’t anyone find this disturbing? If he can ban anyone he wants from coming in, could he also ban anyone he wants from leaving? Trump's Answers at his Meeting with the Evangelicals Trump recently had a meeting with evangelicals for a question/answer session. While this sounds good, some things about this meeting were rather disturbing. Not only did he not really answer most of the questions, some of the things he did say leave question marks and raise red flags. One particular statement that catches the attention is his promise to “free our religion… free our thoughts.” Free our thoughts? What are people’s thoughts? How will he know them? How does he plan to free them? When asked about his plan for preventing terrorists from coming into the country, the only answer he had was that he would build a wall. He really didn’t give any other answer. He said that China built their great wall, so it wouldn’t be hard for us to build a wall. Do you know how China built their “great wall”? It was built with slave labor. Walls will keep people out, but walls can also be used to keep people in. That is certainly something to think about. Trump praises Sadam Hussein’s method of dealing with terrorists: Recently in rallies in Raleigh and Cincinnati, Trump told how he thought it was a good thing the way Sadam Hussein dealt with terrorists. He has been quoted as saying, “You know what he did well? He killed terrorists. He did that so good." Also: "They didn't read 'em the rights, they didn't talk. They were a terrorist, it was over." In the rally in Cincinnati, he tried to convince people that he wasn’t really praising Saddam as some critics had suggested. “The Iraqi leader ‘was a bad man,’ he insisted, adding that ‘I hate Saddam Hussein.’" Read more about it in this article How will Trump and his administration determine who is a terrorist? If they are not read any rights or given a chance to talk, how will they be “innocent until proven guilty”? What about those who are wrongly accused? Will all the trials be dispensed with too? These are serious things we have to consider. Trump can say two different things in one speech and yet convince people that he is consistent and that he means something different from what he has said. That is very frightening. Trump’s fascist tweets and the Anti-Semitic actions of some of his supporters In one of his tweets, Trump portrayed Hillary Clinton as a “corrupt candidate” and showed her next to a six pointed star and some 100 dollar bills. He deleted the tweet and then tried to explain it away by saying the star was actually a Sheriff’s star. But was it? Consider some of these other things. Throughout his campaign, he has used some Nazi German symbols. These are symbols that signal hatred for Jews. Last summer he tweeted a stock image of Waffen-SS soldiers which was overlaid with an American flag and a portrait of himself. The tweet stated, “We need real leadership. We need results. Let’s put the US back into business.” That is NOT real leadership, folks. That is barbaric leadership! And Christians should have no business being in support of anyone who uses such symbols or tactics. A swastika was used in an anti- Jeb Bush ad in November 2015. For more information, check out this article. (Note: I realize that CNN, like most news outlets, is biased and has their own agenda. However, this is an opinion column. Also, any article that contains things like this, whether in a biased newspaper or not, bears at least looking into. Search around, and I would venture to say that you would find the same things from other sources.) An article in the Jerusalem Post shows how Trump supporters unleashed an attack against a Jewish journalist with hateful and anti-Jewish responses and tweets. There is no excuse for this, not even the excuse that the responses were “provoked.” In a New York Times article, Weisman describes some of the blatantly hateful and anti-Semitic things that were sent to him. (see link at end of article) Weisman is not the only Jewish journalist to suffer from such harshness. Just look around and you will find information on this in other places as well. Remember also that more than one holocaust survivor has warned about Trump. Leaders of foreign countries have also warned against him. Although it is true that some foreign countries do not have America’s best interest in mind, it does pay to give some heed to what their leaders say. Consider these statements. “That’s the way Mussolini arrived and the way Hitler arrived.” ~Mexican President Enrique Peña on Trump's rhetoric. "[Trump has] no regard for alliances at all." ~Former Australian ambassador to the U.S. Kim Beazley. "I can only hope that the election campaign in the U.S.A. does not lack the perception of reality." ~German Foreign Minister Frank-Walter Steinmeier. Do you think perhaps that Germans may have a little insight from past experience? “Saying the U.S. will no longer engage in anything that is a burden in terms of its relationships with allies, it would be almost like abandoning those alliances [...] It will inevitably give rise to anti-American sentiment worldwide.” ~Former South Korean vice foreign minister Kim Sung-han. For more quotes and information, check out this Washington Post article. In spite of all this, people blindly follow Trump, including so many Christians. My prayer is that God will open the eyes of the American people and especially the Christians. It is dangerous to play with a fiery serpent. Sooner or later the serpent will bite; and when it does, it will be too late. I’m listening to Corrie Ten Boom’s “The Hiding Place” on BBN right now. Wouldn’t it be a pity if that scenario were repeated, right here in the land of the free and the brave? “Adam Gopnik, quoting Alexander Pope, asks, ‘Is there no black or white?’ His answer: ‘The pain of not seeing that black is black soon enough will be ours, and the time to recognize this is now.’” ~quote from the article in the link above, see very end of article for quote "3Put not your trust in princes, nor in the son of man, in whom there is no help. 4His breath goeth forth, he returneth to his earth; in that very day his thoughts perish. 5Happy is he that hath the God of Jacob for his help, whose hope is in the LORD his God."
