Poor news reporting, Marxist propaganda, and more are driving bigger and bigger wedges between people. Prejudice is running high, and division and hate are growing.
Why? Why is this the case? The Bible says this about bitterness, “Looking diligently lest any man fail of the grace of God; lest any root of bitterness springing up trouble you, and thereby many be defiled.” (Hebrews 12:15) Prejudice and hate are like bitterness. They are plants with roots that grow deep. It seemed like much ground had been gained, but much of this was social answers to social issues. How much had really changed in the hearts? Was the problem dug completely out? Or were the roots left to grow another day while we kept skimming the weeds off the top?
What can we do?
Start with Scripture.
Realize that we are all fearfully and wonderfully made and created in the image of God. (Psalm 139)
Realize that the same price is paid for all – the blood of Jesus Christ. We are all worth the same price. “For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life.” (John 3:16)
Realize that we were all created for beauty, for God’s pleasure, and to glorify God. “Thou art worthy, O Lord, to receive glory and honour and power: for thou hast created all things, and for thy pleasure they are and were created.” (Revelation 4:11)
Show love, even to those who hate you. “But I say unto you, Love your enemies, bless them that curse you, do good to them that hate you, and pray for them which despitefully use you, and persecute you.” (Matthew 5:44) Even if someone hates you or curses you, bless them.
Think about some well-known people and groups.
We know that homosexuality is wrong and that the LGBT agenda is wrong and dangerous for our nation. But did you know that, if these people get saved, they will not be doing what they are doing now or pushing for the things they are currently pushing for?
The left (politically) is part of that which is trying to brainwash the America people. It produces much Marxist propaganda and other sorts of things. But, it is made up of people -- ordinary people just like you and me and everyone else. They have been called libtards and all sorts of other horrible names. Does calling them names really convince them that they are wrong and that they should change? Do we really want them to change, or are we actually glad that we can have something to fight about? What if we showed them some love? What if we acted like they are real people that have eternal souls? We can stand up for what is right without being unkind and hateful.
What about the KKK or Black Lives Matter or the Black Panthers. Do we remember that God loves the individuals in these organizations too? Do we remember that Jesus shed His blood for each of them? What if we went to their Facebook pages, and their blogs and showed some compassion and shared the love of the Gospel. Might not some of them get saved? Wouldn't it be great if they did? They have looked at what they perceive to be a problem in society and have tried a solution. They are standing up for what they believe in. But no solution will work without God. There is no answer to problems except God’s answer. With as much effort and sacrifice as these people put into their cause, imagine what could happen if they got saved and began to live for God's cause.
Do we care enough to do anything about it? When will we start? What if we started today? How can we show love to someone today?
