Let’s take a look at what the Bible says about gay marriage.
Although the Bible does not use the words “gay marriage,” it does speak about what God says is right and wrong concerning marriage and concerning sexual activity.
The Bible describes God’s plan for marriage.
Mark 10:6-8 says,
“From the beginning of the creation God made them
male and female.
7For this cause shall a
man
leave his
father and mother,
and cleave to his
wife;
8And they twain shall be one flesh: so then they are no more twain, but one flesh.”
God is very, very clear that from the beginning He created male and female. It was His plan that each person would have a father and a mother and that a man and woman are to marry and a man is to cleave to his wife.
In gay marriage people of the same sex marry. This does not match up with God’s plan at all. God had several purposes in marriage, but one purpose is explained in Genesis 1:28, “God blessed them, and God said unto them, Be fruitful, and multiply, and replenish the earth.” No matter how one looks at it, two people of the same sex cannot be fruitful and multiply. There is no reproduction among same sexes in humans.
Many times it is said that people are born with homosexual tendencies, that they are born gay. This is a lie that the devil, the god of this world, has used to blind the eyes of men. He darkens their understanding to think that this lie is true. God is very clear that same sex relationships are against nature. “26... for even their women did change the natural use into that which is against nature: 27And likewise also the men, leaving the natural use of the woman, burned in their lust one toward another; men with men working that which is unseemly.” (Romans 1:26,27a) Someone is telling the truth. It is either God or Satan. The verses quoted above are from God’s word. Whom will you believe?
Not only are same sex relationships against nature, but God says they are an abomination. According to Strong’s Concordance, an abomination is something “morally disgusting, an abhorrence.” God hates it. Under the Levitical law, God laid out serious penalties for those who engaged in same sex relationships, “If a man also lie with mankind, as he lieth with a woman, both of them have committed an abomination: they shall surely be put to death; their blood shall be upon them.” (Leviticus 20:13) While only the relationship between two males is mentioned in Leviticus, Romans chapter one mentions women who leave the natural use and change it into that which is against nature in the same way as the men who leave the natural use of the woman. Both homosexuality and lesbianism are serious sins to God. God’s word says that they which do such things shall receive “in themselves that recompence of their error which was meet” and that “they which commit such things are worthy of death.” (See Romans 1:27 & 32)
But there is good news. The wages of sin is always death,
But
“The gift of God is eternal life through Jesus Christ our Lord.” (Romans 6:23b)
Jesus Christ died for the sins of homosexuality, lesbianism, same sex relationships, just like He died for the sins of lying, stealing, murder, unbelief, and all other sins. Jesus Christ bore all these sins in His own body on the tree and He did this so “that we, being dead to sins, should live unto righteousness: by whose stripes ye were healed.” (See I Peter 2:24)
“For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life.” (John 3:16)
The Scriptures plead, “Believe on the Lord Jesus Christ, and thou shalt be saved, and thy house.” (Acts 16:31) Satan has taken many people captive at his will (II Timothy 2:25,26), but the blood of Jesus Christ, which cleanses us from all sin (I John 1:7b), can free us from that bondage.
If you are in bondage today, come quickly to Jesus Christ, for He is the way out of bondage and darkness, into God’s glorious freedom and light. “To open their eyes, and to turn them from darkness to light, and from the power of Satan unto God, that they may receive forgiveness of sins, and inheritance among them which are sanctified by faith….” (Acts 26:18)
