It is my prayer that God will raise up godly men who are not ashamed of our American heritage and not afraid to be patriots. It is my prayer that God will raise up godly men who will speak to those in authority and lovingly show them their sin and its consequences and help them see the holiness of God and their need of salvation. It is my prayer that God will raise up men who are willing to pledge their lives, fortunes, and sacred honor to protect our country and regain its freedoms, men who will say with Patrick Henry, “I know not what course others may take; but, as for me, give me liberty or give me death.”
Our present government is trying to take away our right to bear arms. Some time ago, creation scientist Kent Hovind was arrested because he had not paid taxes. There is a long story to this that I will not go into. I think he sincerely believed he was trying to maintain his rights under the Constitution. However, his actions did create a poor testimony for Christianity. He is in jail because he broke the law, not because he is suffering for his faith.
But the interesting thing about his arrest is that a big deal was made about the guns that Kent Hovind owned. Apparently he owned about 10 of them. He said the reason we have the right to bear arms is to keep the government from getting too big and to preserve our free state.
I wonder where he got that idea. It could be he got it out of the Constitution. According to the second amendment, the American people are to be the militia, and they are to bear arms with the purpose of keeping a free state. Every mature adult male in the United States of America has the right and responsibility to bear arms to protect this nation. The second amendment reads, “Right to bear arms and militia.
A well regulated Militia, being necessary to the security of a free State, the right of the people to keep and bear Arms, shall not be infringed.”
It is OK to have a government-organized military and for people to volunteer in the armed forces. But the importance of the common people being permitted to bear arms and protect their country must never be underrated or taken from the people. Under the Constitution of the United States you have the right to bear arms. If any law is passed that says you cannot bear arms, that law is in violation of the Constitution. Under normal circumstances, any judge that forbids you to bear arms is in violation of the Constitution. Your right to bear arms may be revoked, of course, if you have a criminal history or are otherwise incompetent to handle a gun safely.
The Declaration of Independence is another one of our founding documents. It explains our reasons for independence, our rights under God, and our duty to our country under God. This document declares that it is the right and the duty of the American people to abolish the government over them and to establish a new government when the form of government that is over them becomes destructive of the self-evident truths that all men are created equal, that all men are endowed by their Creator with certain inalienable rights, and that “to secure these rights, Governments are instituted among Men, deriving their just powers from the consent of the governed.”
Along with the attempt by our government to take away the right of the people to keep and bear arms is the attempt to take away our rights under the first amendment. They are replacing this right with the lie that the “law of separation of church and state,” which does not exist, prohibits anyone from making any reference to God in a public place. It certainly is a good thing that George Washington and Abraham Lincoln did not know anything about this law. They broke it far too many times.
Amendment 1 reads as follows:
“Freedom of speech, religion, press, petition and assembly.
“Congress shall make no law respecting an establishment of religion, or prohibiting the free exercise thereof; or abridging the freedom of speech, or of the press; or the right of the people peaceably to assemble, and to petition the Government for a redress of grievances”
The suppression of the first amendment necessitates the suppression of the 2nd amendment. If atheistic ideology can be forced upon the people, and they can be brainwashed into thinking that honoring God and mentioning Him in a public place is wrong, then they must have their arms taken away from them. A people that does not believe in God cannot be expected to do right when they are armed. Therefore the government must take their arms away in order that they might control them.
The suppression of these two amendments results in the suppression of patriotism. Recently this has been taken to such an extent that the issue of whether or not the words “under God” in the Pledge of Allegiance is constitutional, is actually being considered by the courts. An American school boy was told he could not display an American flag on his bike because it might cause racial tension at school. Excuse me, the students at this school are living in America. They may come from other countries and be loyal to their countries of origin. That is understandable. But if they are wanting to cause “racial tension” over the fact that another student is patriotic to America, then whoever is teaching them these ideas ought not be in America. This is our country. If they do not like it, let them go back home.
I don’t say this to be mean. But if they are coming here to live, they should support Americans in patriotism to their own country even if they want to remain loyal to their own for the time that they are living here. If they cannot do this, they should leave. If they stay and plant seeds of racial hatred or anti-Americanism, they will destroy this country. It is not just a matter of simple racial prejudice. It is a matter of patriotism.
Twice recently a state has put a constitutional amendment on their ballot (for their state constitution). This amendment has been voted for and ratified by the people of that state. In each case a judge has ruled that this amendment is unconstitutional. Umm. Do you notice anything wrong here? If the amendment was put on the ballot and ratified by a majority vote of the people, it is constitutional no matter what a judge thinks. As soon as they possibly can, the people in these states need to make an election system for their judges, remove the corrupt judges, and vote in judges who understand that they are there to uphold the laws and the state constitution and not to make laws and abuse their power.
Many, many more abuses of the people’s rights could be mentioned here, not the least of which is the passing of the health care bill and the attempt to take away the rights of health researchers and the right of the American people to choose their type of health care. (See bill number S. 3767) For more information on other laws just passed or being considered, please check out this site - http://doubletakecreations.blogspot.com/
All of these issues go back to the primary issue, the refusal to recognize God and His authority over the lives of mankind. Please, please pray diligently for this country. God does hear and God does answer prayer. Queen Mary said that she feared the prayers of John Knox more than she feared an army coming against her. I do not agree with John Knox in some areas of doctrine, but I do pray that the prayers of Christians in this nation will make leaders who have rejected God have a healthy fear of Him. Christ is the only hope of our nation. Please, please pray.
