“God is not a man, that he should lie; neither the son of man, that he should repent: hath he said, and shall he not do it? or hath he spoken, and shall he not make it good?” (Numbers 23;19)
“As for God, his way is perfect; the word of the LORD is tried: he is a buckler to all them that trust in him.” (II Samuel 22:31)
“He shall cover thee with his feathers, and under his wings shalt thou trust: his truth shall be thy shield and buckler.” (Psalm 91:4)
“Lead me in thy truth, and teach me: for thou art the God of my salvation; on thee do I wait all the day.” (Psalm 25:5)
“11Withhold not thou thy tender mercies from me, O LORD: let thy lovingkindness and thy truth continually preserve me. 12For innumerable evils have compassed me about: mine iniquities have taken hold upon me, so that I am not able to look up; they are more than the hairs of mine head: therefore my heart faileth me. 13Be pleased, O LORD, to deliver me: O LORD, make haste to help me.” (Psalm 40:11-13) (God’s truth is sufficient in times of trouble)
“2I will worship toward thy holy temple, and praise thy name for thy lovingkindness and for thy truth: for thou hast magnified thy word above all thy name. 3In the day when I cried thou answeredst me, and strengthenedst me with strength in my soul… 8The LORD will perfect that which concerneth me: thy mercy, O LORD, endureth for ever: forsake not the works of thine own hands.” (Psalm 138:2,3&8)
There are many more passages that tell about God’s word, His truth. However, these few verses quoted above should give us a good understanding that God’s word is sufficient in both good times and bad and that it is our guide for life. It can lead us as we wait on the Lord all the day long. It can preserve us when we are surrounded by trouble. It can help us out when we feel our iniquities will overwhelm us. It is that in which we glory when we worship in God’s house. Because of God’s word, He will help us and perfect His work in us when we are living in His will. He will not forsake us, the work of His own hands. We must build upon the Bible, God’s foundation for our lives.
