13. That he will have the joy of fellowship and communion with God
“He wakeneth morning by morning, he wakeneth mine ear to hear as the learned.” (Isaiah 50:4b) God desires fellowship with His own each morning and all the day. The Psalmist David said, “Evening, and morning, and at noon, will I pray, and cry aloud: and he shall hear my voice.” (Psalm 55:17) Moses enjoyed fellowship with God as with a friend, “And the LORD spake unto Moses face to face, as a man speaketh unto his friend.” (Exodus 33:11) And this sweet fellowship can be your pastor’s as well and it can be yours for “there is a friend that sticketh closer than a brother” (Proverbs 18:24), and that friend is Jesus.
14. That he will ask and expect great things from God
“Call unto me, and I will answer thee, and shew thee great and mighty things, which thou knowest not.” (Jeremiah 33:3)
“What nation is there so great, who hath God so nigh unto them, as the LORD our God is in all things that we call upon him for?” (Deuteronomy 4:7) Of course, this verse is speaking of and to Israel, and yet God is nigh unto us as well and He is there and ready to aid us in all the things that we call upon Him for. “Draw nigh to God, and he will draw nigh to you.” (James 4:8a) God has certain promises and blessings for Israel, but His character is the same for all that call upon Him and fear Him.
Here are some other verses with the same assurance:
“And I say unto you, Ask, and it shall be given you; seek, and ye shall find; knock, and it shall be opened unto you.” (Luke 11:19)
“Unto him that is able to do exceeding abundantly above all that we ask or think, according to the power that worketh in us.” (Ephesisans 3:20)
“5And the LORD descended in the cloud, and stood with him there, and proclaimed the name of the LORD. 6And the LORD passed by before him, and proclaimed, The LORD, The LORD God, merciful and gracious, longsuffering, and abundant in goodness and truth.” (Exodus 34:5,6)
