I know many will disagree with me, even some of my good conservatives friends; but I am writing these things because I care about America and care that she remains free. Here are a few of my thoughts on the candidates.
I will say that, at this point, if the election were today and the Republican nominee were either Donald Trump or Ted Cruz, I would not vote for them.* (See note below blog post)
Donald Trump has many good points, but he is an ungodly man. He also is pro-gay agenda, not pro-life, and promotes gambling. I am afraid that if he is elected, he may just be a Jehu for America (See II Kings 10:28-25). He might drive out the “Baal worshipers” (radical Muslims), but he will continue on in the sins of those before him and turn away the hearts of the Americans even farther from God. This will only bring more of God’s judgment on America. We need to be praying for him to be saved. He may be America's next President.
I’m afraid that so many are in support of Donald Trump because they think he can win and they think he is going to save our country from terrorists. They also think he can beat Hillary Clinton. I am afraid that, if he gets in, and people get the “king” they are seeking after, they might find just what Israel found in Samuel’s day, “He will take your sons... and he will take your daughters... And he will take your fields, and your vineyards, and your oliveyards, even the best of them , and give them to his servants. 15And he will take the tenth of your seed, and of your vineyards, and give to his officers, and to his servants. 16And he will take your menservants, and your maidservants [employees], and your goodliest young men... and put them to his work. 17He will take the tenth of your sheep [animals for livelihood]: and ye shall be his servants. 18And ye shall cry out in that day because of your king which ye shall have chosen you; and the LORD will not hear you in that day.” (II Samuel 8:11-18)
Wouldn’t it be better if we were all earnestly seeking the Lord every day in earnest prayer to raise up a God fearing man to serve this country as President instead of promoting an ungodly man because we think he is the best one to beat the other ungodly candidate?
Ted Cruz also has some good points, at least he seems to. He scares me though, as much or worse than Trump, because he looks so good. However, after watching some videos of his speeches and looking at his blog several times, he strikes me as manipulative, stuck on himself, and a bit deceitful. I also get the idea that he likes power. Then there was the thing that went on in the last Caucus. It is old news, of course, but still a serious thing. And, if the things mentioned in this article are true, it is even worse than I had thought at first. I just don’t know what to think about him.

Another thing that scares me is that Trump, who at first was upset at Cruz for what he had done during the Iowa caucus, now seems to be friends with him again. What will happen tomorrow night?
Marco Rubio -- my second choice for candidate. My biggest problem with him is that he seems a bit wishy washy. It’s hard to know exactly where he stands on some things or if he takes a strong stand on some things. However, there are a few things I like about him. He is nice. He isn’t fake, doesn’t try to be someone he isn’t. And he doesn’t change what he says just to make people like him better, at least it doesn’t seem that he does.
Ben Carson is still my favorite candidate. Some of us did get weary of his repeatedly mentioning the issue with Ted Cruz. However, nothing was done to take care of the problem. He may be very mild mannered, but all of us have our button, even the most mild mannered among us. We really need to pray for him to have wisdom and to do right. We don't know what we would have done if we had been in his situation.

*I have been told that not to vote for them was to vote for the worse person. No, it is to vote for the person who best represents my beliefs and who I believe has the country’s best interest in mind. That is a privilege and freedom we have in this country, and we haven't taken advantage of it. For too long, it seems we have entered races with a defeatist attitude, simply voting for the one we think most likely to beat the other guy, even if he’s not the one we really like. What if we all sought the Lord’s mind in how to vote and then started supporting someone that stood for America and stood for what is right? What might God do if we really believed and depended on Him to do it? Think about it.
