Fast forward to July 2016, the Republican National Convention. On Tuesday night of this convention, a lawyer from San Francisco, California offered a Sikh prayer to Waheguru .
This is apparently not the first time this has happened. In August 2012, a Sikh was to offer prayer at a Republican convention. On Sikhnet.com, Ishwar Singh says, "I am honored to be the first Sikh American in US history to deliver the invocation at a national convention. On Wednesday, I will offer a prayer at the Republican National Convention from my Sikh faith." The hand of friendship was extended to them by Governor Scott Walker, Rep. Paul Ryan, and the Republican National Committee. Why didn't we hear about this? Why didn't we Christians fear and speak up? Why didn't we fall broken before God and implore His forgiveness. This was only one year after the big tragedy of 9/11, and already we were seeking to other gods.
Also, on Tuesday night of the convention this year, the man who founded "Muslims for Trump" gave the closing prayer. He says that he did so with the permission of Donald Trump.
Do we know what America deserves for turning to other gods and worshiping them? Why are we Christians not afraid? Why are we, America, as a nation not afraid? Why aren't we afraid of God? Why aren't we humbling ourselves before Him and repenting in brokenness and crying out for His forgiveness and mercy?
Let us not forget the words of Psalm 2, "10Be wise now therefore, O ye kings: be instructed, ye judges of the earth. 11Serve the LORD with fear, and rejoice with trembling. 12Kiss the Son, lest he be angry, and ye perish from the way, when his wrath is kindled but a little. Blessed are all they that put their trust in him."
Let us pray the desire that John Wesley expressed, "Give me one hundred men who fear nothing but sin, and desire nothing but God, and I will shake the world."
"Lord, give us those one hundred men. Lord, please shake America!"
Why aren't we afraid of God? Will we learn to fear Him before it is too late?
